This book is a brief history of the Chalcedonian Antiochian Orthodox Church, past and present. It is aimed specially at the non-specialist reader and seeks to fill a gap in the Arabic library since most of the books about the history of the Antiochian Orthodox Church are long exhaustive volumes that focus mainly on the political part of this history and thus have limited readership.
The book has 7 chapters. It opens with a theological chapter and then it relates the theological- doctrinal aspects to the historical one by dealing with the major stages in the development of theological thought of the Antiochian Church. Next it has a look at the history of the Church art in Antioch. Another chapter deals with the concept of “the other” both within the Ecumenical relationships and the Moslem- Christian dialog. Chapter six deals with demographical, economic, and political status at the present time. The last chapter casts a look at the future.
