La Communaute Monastique de Deir el Harf, 1996 by Dr. Houda Kassatly. It is the second book to be published in this series by the Orthodox Documentation and Research Center. On the front cover is the mural of the Appearance to St. Thomas, and on the back cover a picture of Father Sofian Boghio restoring the icon of Christ in 1991.
Following the introduction by Metropolite Georges Khodr part one talks about the establishment of the monastery and the monastic life in it including rules, daily life, monastic dress code, manual and spiritual and intellectual activities. The second part studies the four architectural stages in the building of the monastery followed by an architectural study of the church. The Conclusion is followed by annexes that include list of the monastery’s superiors, the school of the monstery, the monstery’s Waqf and its economic conditons, and a list of monastery’s publications. The book also includes structural diagrams by engineer, Elie Abi Nassif. The photographs are by Dr. Kassatly.
