The archives of Greek Orthodox Bishopric of Beirut. V. I. Published 1988. by Center  for Archiving  and Documentation at the University of Balamand. These archives contain records and papers and represent a partial history of these monasteries and their areas.
Beirut.png The records are divided into daily accounts of debts and receivables and ledgers of the monasteries showing  monthly exports and imports.There are also different records of real estates and private records of baptisms, deaths, marriages, and divorce. There are also different records of real estates and private records of baptisms, deaths, marriages, and divorce. The papers include papers of ownerships, correspondence, receipts and others. They have all been cataloged to show size and kind of paper, as well as the size and type  of handwriting, and the ink used.  An abstract of each paper is also provided. There are indexes showing names of clerical writers, of monasteries and churches, societies and associations. There is also a list of keywords. The introduction is by Metropolitan Elias Awdeh, Metropolitan of the Diocese of Beirut. He exposed the value of this pioneering work that shows the role played by the Beirut Diocese in the history of Beirut. This volume includes also an article by Souad Slim Abourroos about the importance of the archives of the Diocese of Beirut. The number of records, booklets, and papers in this volume is 900. They were prepared by Ghada Shalhoub Sawaya and Jamileh Costy.
