Musāhamat al-muʼarrikhīn al-Urthūdhuks fī al-taʼrīkh. (Contribution of Orthodox Historians to Historiography).
This is the name of the conference organized by Monastry of Our Lady of Balamand and the Institute of History Archeology and Near Eastern Heritage at the University of Balamand on March 12-14, 2007. It was held at the Fadi and George Geha Hall at the Monastery. Presentations were in Arabic, English and French and were delivered by professors from Lebanon and from abroad. The aim of the conference was to identify these authors, study their works, and find out how far their work and their nationalistic endeavors were molded by their Antiochian Orthodox beliefs.  The conference tried to deal with other questions, such as:
Did the Orthodox historians’ accounts display complete separation between the historical and the religious history?
Did they adhere to any special historical methodology? Did they have their own special system or did they follow the methods of other historians?
The opening address was by Ahmad Beydoun :  Religious affiliation and  knowledge pursuits  of our modern historians. Presentations focused on the following areas:
History according to the chroniclers
Ancient history
Regional history
Church history
History as an expression of national affiliation
The historian as a witness of his times
The biographers
History: a new science
History as a springboard for thought and affiliation.
Last session : conclusion and looking ahead.
Works of the conference were published in a book carrying the same title.
